1300 Years Later was inspired by the oldest viable lotus seed found to date thus the title 1300…. Not only was I awed by the age of the seed, but also by the seed’s genetic ability to repair itself directly affecting its viability. The seed pod base is sculpted from clay and the three sprouts arising from the pod are paper mache which is finished with ripped magazine pages and newspaper text.
